Field Officer - Apprentices & Trainees

Did you know that only 42% of people that commence an apprenticeship in Australia actually complete? That’s a pretty worrying stat. However, we are proud at MIGAS that the completion rate for our Apprentices is over 80%. So why is that? Well, there are a few reasons but one of the main ones is the mentorship we provide. That’s where the role of a Field Officer comes in.

We attract, recruit and hire Apprentices and Trainee’s for a wide range of Host Employers across the country. Once the hiring is done, our Field Officers take over and are responsible for guiding and mentoring our apprentices and trainee’s through the duration of their training. This involves on-site meetings to conduct performance reviews, gain host and apprentice feedback, ensure Workplace Health and Safety is always maintained and generally being there to offer guidance, advice and mentorship in all aspects of our apprentices’ journey with us. This means you will be on the road for a good chunk of time, but we provide a company car and all the tools of trade you need to get the job done.

Like all roles this one has its challenges. Mentoring a portfolio of Apprentices and Trainees means that you will have to deal with a range of issues that will test your patience and ability to think on your feet. You will need to be comfortable having some tough conversations and delivering bad news, all whilst being caring and empathetic. However, as our 80% completion rate suggests, the good news defiantly outweighs the bad. In fact, you will spend the majority of your time working with and mentoring the next generation of Australian Trades People and playing a key role in their early career. The role is fun, fast paced, rewarding and genuinely makes a difference in peoples lives.

So, if you like what you’ve read so far and the below applies to you then we would love to tell you more.

  • You have a passion for mentoring, coaching and developing young people
  • You have some experience within a Blue Collar environment, ideally within HR/ Recruitment
  • You have a basic understanding of HR and the ability to deal with first line queries
  • You understand the absolute importance of Workplace Health and Safety
  • You can deal with Customers and manage key stakeholder relationships

To be considered for this role you must have a valid driver’s license and have, or be able to obtain, a Working with Children card.
