Zoo Educator – Permanent

Welcome to our wild party! Join Wellington Zoo on our journey to ignite a zoo revolution.  We have a fabulous opportunity for someone with energy, drive and enthusiasm to join our Learning Team as a Zoo Educator. This is a permanent role full time role. 

 Wellington Zoo is guided by the kaupapa Me Tiaki, Kia Ora! We must look after our environment, so all things will flourish. We lead the way in modelling sustainable behaviours, and it is up to us to make a difference for animals and the wild places they call home. To be successful in this role, you’ll have a passion for conservation and connecting people with animals.

The Zoo Educator is responsible for creating and delivering innovative, conservation-based learning programmes to a wide range of Zoo visitors including LEOTC learning sessions, the Zoo’s School Holiday Programme, The Warehouse Zoofari and our hands-on environmental literacy programme, Bush Builders.

 Are you:

  • An experienced educator?
  • Creative and enthusiastic?
  • An excellent communicator?
  • Passionate about conservation and inspiring action in others?
  • Someone who enjoys working outdoors and have a moderate level of physical fitness

If you are keen to share your passion for animals, conservation and sustainability with students of all ages and have a good working knowledge of the New Zealand curriculum, this is the job for you.

Candidates must have the legal right to work in New Zealand, and if selected will be required to undergo a police background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol check.
