Bistro Elba is a small high quality restaurant in Sorrento on the Mornington Peninsula and are looking for a person to join our Kitchen team. The role is to replace our sous chef who is starting a cooking teaching career at Tafe and so is no longer available full time, our food is based on modern bistro style dishes with focus on seafood.
With the restaurant being open only lunch and dinner we are able to offer a flexible roster including a four day working week, which allows our kitchen team a great work life balance, as well as paying our chefs well above industry rates of pay.
We are looking for a person who enjoys cooking and working within a profession environment and has highly developed cooking skills, someone who would like to start to move into a management role or who already has management experience that they would like to expand upon.
The business is five years old and has seen steady growth, we are now working constantly to refine and improve our product and are looking for a person who would like to come on board and work closely with our Head Chef Sam, the other management and the owners to ensure that Bistro Elba continues in this pattern of expansion and improvement.
The successful candidate will need to have worked in high quality venues with good references. They should also enjoy teaching junior staff, and be keen to keep a strong rein on the food COG. We run the business with an open book financial policy and work collaboratively with all our managers to improve both our business and their understanding of good financial practices.
