Allied Health Assistant

Sydney Adventist Hospital (SAH), fondly known as 'the San', is NSWs largest acute-care private hospital with over 750 beds, including more than 500 overnight beds, employing over 2400 staff, 460 volunteers and 1000 accredited medical officers.

The hospital offers the latest services and facilities, including 23 operating theatre and endoscopy suites, 3 cardiac catheterisation laboratories, 24x7 Emergency department, intensive care and coronary care units, renal dialysis unit, rehabilitation and sleep studies units, and a leading multi-disciplinary Integrated Cancer Centre.

Dedicated to being at the forefront of technology, the San has a prominent robotic surgery unit, state-of-the-art hybrid operating theatre, and the latest in surgical and diagnostic imaging.

This role requires enthusiastic, professional, team players to be involved in assisting in the physiotherapy, occupational therapy, hydrotherapy, rehab and acute ward areas. The role offers variety in patient care such as assistance in the hydrotherapy area, assisting physiotherapists with general rehabilitation, assisting patients with exercises and therapists with cast applications.

Other duties include some administrative tasks, reception relief, assessing stock levels and assisting in ordering.  Responsibility is also given to maintain tidy workspaces, and some cleaning of equipment. Salary will be dependent upon years of experience.

The successful applicant will meet the following criteria:

Essential:

  • Previous experience in a similar role and interest in working in patient care
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to show empathy and authentic caring nature
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions

Desirable:

  • Experience in a rehabilitation setting
  • Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance
  • Medical Terminology
  • Previous experience in patient care
