UNDERGROUND MINE GEOLOGIST - RESIDENTIAL

Norton Gold Fields Limited (Norton or "the Company") is one of Australia's largest domestic gold producers, with recent annual production of upto 200,000 ounces. The Company has a mining and processing complex in Western Australia's world-class Kalgoorlie gold region, including a highly prospective tenement package of over 1,000km² surrounding the 3.8Mtpa Paddington Mill.

Roster:  8:6 - Residential

Norton Gold Fields are seeking a highly motivated and disciplined mine geologist to coordinate the day to day grade control duties across multiple pits. You will demonstrate the Norton Values of Zero Harm, Teamwork, Innovation, Performance Driven, and Efficiency during your daily work.

The Key Tasks of the role include:

  • A focus on personal and team safety with the goal of Zero Harm.
  • Ore dig line markups.
  • Geological mapping.
  • RC Chip Logging.
  • Manage grade control drill and assay data.
  • Monitor QA/QC of grade control data.
  • Maintain and validate material trucking data.
  • Design and plan grade control drill programs.
  • Work with engineers to plan mining sequence and blast designs to ensure ore is extracted sympathetically to the mineralisation style and geometry.
  • Monitor blast movements and document results.
  • Collaborate with shift supervisors and oversee ore mining.
  • Mentor junior geologists and pit techs, including training of grade control procedures in the field.
  • Assist in End of Month Reconciliation and Grade Control Modelling.
  • Assist in the supervision of contractors.

To be successful you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary degree in Geology
  • Registered member of a professional geoscience organisation.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in production underground mining (preferably gold)
  • Exposure to 3D Mining Software (Surpac or similar)
  • Practical knowledge of blasting dynamics and electronic movement monitoring.
  • Practical knowledge of geostatistics and grade control modelling.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Current unrestricted WA C class licence
