Catering Industries is a leading provider of contracted hospitality services (catering, cleaning and laundry) to Australia's health and aged care, education, government, corporate and resources sector.  We currently employ over 1100 personnel across various operations nationally.

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Catering Assistant to join the kitchen team at our client's aged care site located in Epping, VIC. This is a permanent part-time role with a minimum of 20 hours per week available on week days or weekends.

Detailed roster will be discussed with successful applicants.

Salary and benefits

You will gain valuable experience whilst working with our experienced and hands-on management team. A competitive hourly rate plus penalty loadings as per Hospitality Award is on offer. You will also receive comprehensive training to perform your role in a satisfactory manner.

Skills and experience

  • 1+ year's experience in a similar role - aged care experience highly regarded.
  • Ability to speak and understand Spanish will be a huge advantage
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Ability to multi-task and perform work within deadlines
  • Empathy and respect towards aged care residents, staff and clients.
  • The ability to support the chefs and the team in a busy kitchen.
  • Must have own reliable transport.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare trolleys for breakfast meals and room service
  • Meal plating and service from various kitchenettes and serveries
  • Cleaning of serveries and kitchen area. Maintain a clean working environment at all times
  • Attend mandatory training as required
  • Adhering to and completing quality assurance documents
  • Washing dishes, floors and other areas as scheduled
  • Preparing salads and sandwiches in the main kitchen
  • Function set up and clear down
  • Assist the Chef and Chef Manager in preparation and service of food/beverage
