Graduate Engineer (Structural)

Indesco is a highly respected engineering consultancy with offices in Canberra, Parramatta and Wollongong. We are currently working on a number of major projects and are offering a challenging and rewarding career opportunity for a Graduate Engineer (Structural) in our Canberra office.

The primary objective of the Graduate Engineer (Structural) will be to undertake investigations, analysis and design of structural engineering infrastructure projects. We are looking for current and recent graduates who are based in Canberra, or willing to relocate here. You will receive personalised mentoring, job specific training and excellent project opportunities.

Job tasks and responsibilities

  • Structural design of medium and high-rise buildings, including post-tensioning design
  • Preparation of engineering reports;
  • Undertake components of design as appropriate to the needs of the project within one’s capabilities such as;
    • Structural steel
    • Precast concrete
    • Reinforced concrete
    • Post Tension Concrete
    • Masonry
    • Timber
  • Utilise computer software packages available from the company to assist with the design process (12D, AutoCAD, Revit, Inducta, Space Gass, RAPT and Microsoft Office suite software);
  • Measurement of quantities and preparation of bills of quantities;
  • Preparation of cost estimates;
  • Assist with the preparation of project plans;
  • Assist in the submission of documents for design approvals; and
  • Supervise the work of CAD drafters and designers as required.

Skills and experience

Essential qualification:

  • Tertiary degree in Civil Engineering which admits you to Membership of Engineers Australia is essential

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Previous experience in undergraduate structural engineering roles is desirable
  • Basic CAD skills would be advantageous
  • Work experience in related industries desirable
