Engineering Manager

The Role:

Navantia Australia are currently looking for a highly competent Engineering Manager to join the team at its Garden Island office. As the Engineering Manager for the AOR Program, you will play an integral role and will be responsible for the Engineering of AOR Mission and Support Systems as well as lead a team of Engineers to deliver routine engineering services for the AORSPO.

This opportunity will suit an energetic and proactive Engineering Manager who comes with extensive naval experience and has the ability to establish a close and working collaborative relationship within the Navantia Corporate Engineering Support team, the Commonwealth and the Industry Partner to grow a credible, capable and efficient engineering in-service support capability.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Support the Program Director with the engineering management of the AOR Platform and the Navantia Chief Engineer for Corporate Engineering activities.
  • Represent Navantia for Engineering Capability within the AOR Enterprise and sign off AOR Designers Certificate in compliance with N4/Seaworthiness Outcomes.
  • Accountable for Systems Engineering in accordance with Hardware and Software requirements as set out in EIA 632, ISO 12207 and Seaworthiness N4.
  • Manage and maintain the AOR Mission Requirements and Support System Requirements with their allocated baselines in DOORs.
  • Accountable for the plans that address the developmental activities for Major Changes; Platform Engineering Plan (PEP), Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) and the Integrated Support Plan (ISP).
  • Manage Safety Engineering activities and review and the System Safety Program Plan (SSPP)
  • Responsibility and oversight of the ILS Supportability, Logistics, Training and Engineering Analysis program.
  • Conduct Systems and Engineering related Review in accordance with EIA 632 (SRR, SDR, PDR, CDR, TRR, etc.). Sign off on Engineering Data Packs (develop, integrate, install and test).
  • Maintain the Security Architecture Policy & Plan (SAPP) and the Emanation Security (EMSEC) Control Plan (EMSECCP).
  • Be accountable for the Engineering Authority Register and related engineering/maintenance personnel certification.

 

As the ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or related technical discipline
  • Solid experience working in the defence or maritime industry in naval engineering or maintenance programs
  • Extensive management experience in leading a systems / requirements and design engineering function
  • Australian Citizenship holding or eligible for an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) Defence Security Clearance to a minimum of NV1
  • Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision making skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships at all levels of the business and clients
  • Occasional interstate and overseas travel to Spain may be required
