Catering Industries Pty Ltd is a leading provider of contracted hospitality services (catering, cleaning and laundry) to Australia's health and aged care, education, government, corporate and resources sector.  We currently employ over 1100 personnel across various operations in our active market.

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Chef to join the kitchen team at our client's aged care facility in Randwick. You will be working alongside the chef manager to prepare high quality, nutritious and well presented meals for the aged care residents.

This is a full time role working approximately 40 hours per week between Thu-Mon. Detailed roster will be discussed with successful applicant.

Skills and experience

  • 3+ year's experience in a similar role - aged care experience highly regarded.
  • Cook home style Greek/ Mediterranean style meals for elderly residents in a nursing home
  • Cert III in commercial cookery as a minimum 
  • Staff supervision and training
  • Collaborative, reliable and team player 
  • Ability to multi-task and perform work within deadlines
  • Experienced in ordering, delivery and handling/control of stock
  • Empathy and respect towards aged care residents, staff and clients.
  • The ability to function within a busy kitchen whilst working harmoniously with the team.
  • Excellent client liaison and customer service skills.
  • Must have own reliable transport.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ability to produce high quality meals in line with aged care food service/HACCP guidelines, Quality Assurance procedures including low and high care residents.
  • Assisting in menu design, changes and implementation.
  • Responsible for preparation of special diets such as puree, gluten free and texture modified etc.
  • Excellent organisation skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Contribute to a clean, hygienic and safe working environment within the kitchen
  • High level of QA, WH&S, HACCP and Food Safety knowledge.
  • Support the chef manager as required
