Training Officer

Job Summary

This is an exciting and rewarding career opportunity for Training Officers to develop their careers with Serco.  Being part of the first new hires this Greenfield site, you’ll get to use your experience and passion for training as we expand our workforce ready for open in July 2020.

 You will join Australia’s largest and most state-of-the-art correctional centre and have the opportunity to play a key position in the training team. Serco Australia has a 20 year contract to operate and maintain the centre, creating the opportunity for long-term, rewarding and secure employment with exciting career prospects in one of Australia’s most spectacular coastal and country locations. 

About you

As a Training Officer, you are experienced in developing and implementing training plans for a large workforce and motivated and ready to take the opportunity to assist with training as we ramp up to our open date. You have strong communication skills and align to our values, with a commitment and passion for the on-going rehabilitation of the people in our care.

About the opportunity

 As a Training Officer, you will be responsible for the delivery and assessment of the practical and theoretical skills and knowledge of our employees.  You will have a passion for our commitment to the rehabilitation and reintegration programs, and play an integral role in promoting training and the importance of training across the centre. Delivering our national training plan will see us meet our organisational objectives and create a safe and respectful environment for everyone in the centre. To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have similar experience training large scale multi-disciplinary workforces
  • Have a genuine passion for delivering and developing training
  • Hold your certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116 or TAE40110 plus the following additional units TAELLN411 (or its successor) or TAELLN401A, and TAEASS502 (or its successor) or TAEASS502A or TAEASS502B
  • Hold a Certificate III in Correctional Practice
  • Have an ongoing commitment to your training accreditation and professional development
  • Demonstrate a competent level of computer literacy and report writing
  • Have well developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Maintain high levels of integrity
