Supply Chain Manager

The Role:

Navantia Australia have a fantastic opportunity for a Supply Chain Manager to join the team out of its Sydney CBD office. You will play a pivotal role and have the opportunity to lead with impact and develop, oversee and manage the company´s supply chain strategy and operations in order to maximize the process efficiency, effectiveness and productivity.

To be successful in this role, you will be a dynamic Supply Chain Leader who has the ability to influence and take ownership of the Supply Chain function. The successful candidate must have at least 5 years’ relevant skills and experience in a similar Supply Chain Management role, preferably in the defence environment and proven experience in leading procurement projects in a large complex organisation and influencing cross-functional teams.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Manage and lead the supply chain function and develop the supply chain system(s) for the company
  • Plan and Implement the overall Supply Chain Strategy and coordinate with Navantia Spain
  • Ensure compliance with norms and procedures in all the Supply Chain Processes
  • Participate in parent company Supply Chain activities/policies and ensure the adequate transference of the regulation framework to Australia
  • Act as a mentor and lead, train, evaluate and motivate the Supply Chain team
  • Report to the Executive Board and other stakeholders
  • Research, develop and implement efficiencies in the supply chain flow and interfaces
  • Collaborate and coordinate with Business Development, Sales, Marketing, Facilities, IT, Finance, Programs and Operations to properly manage their Supply Chain requirement and expectations
  • Direct activities in order to limit costs, improve accuracy and maximise value for money for the company
  • Liaise with Engineering and Production to promote a smooth Operations environment
  • Examine procedures and develop opportunities for streamlining activities whilst meeting spares distribution needs and optimising delivery schedules
  • Elaborate supply chain maps to identify risk and mitigation measures
  • Determine and monitor Supply Chain KPI
  • Identify key partners and suppliers and management of Suppliers Evaluation processes
  • Negotiate contract with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Read and comprehend legal document such as contracts (including ASDEFCON contracts) and import/export documents (including ITAR controlled materiel)
  • Build and maintain good relationship with vendors and distributors. Establish the Vendors strategy for the company
  • Increase the Australian Industry footprint in the company supplier portfolio
  • Support the Asset Management Team in life cycle costs and risk profiling
  • Understand the Defence industry supply chain framework
  • Support the company’s growth strategy

 

As the ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Bachelors in Supply Chain Management desirable in an Engineering background
  • Proven skills and experience in a defence related environment
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as supply chain professional in a large complex organisation with overseas strong relationship and overseas supplier’s portfolio.
  • Acquisition and/or Sustainment program experience (ASDEFCON) (recommended in Navy programs).
  • Minimum 5 years supervisory experience and very strong interpersonal skills
  • Proven Knowledge of the Industry capability (In and Out of Country)
  • Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision making skills
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships at all levels of the business and clients all around the world.
  • Australian Citizenship holding or eligible for an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) Defence Security Clearance to a minimum of Baseline
  • Spanish language preferable but not essential
