Job Summary
This is an exciting and rewarding career opportunity for a Technical Coordinator to join Serco, at the new Clarence Correctional Centre in Grafton. You will join Australia’s most innovative and largest correctional centre and have the opportunity to play a key role at this Greenfield site.

The Clarence Correctional Centre is due to open in mid-2020, with a 1700 bed facility, making it the largest and most state-of-the-art correctional centre in Australia. Serco Australia has a 20 year contract to operate and maintain the centre, creating the opportunity for long-term, rewarding and secure employment with exciting career prospects in one of Australia’s most spectacular coastal and country locations.

About you
You are an experienced as a Technical Coordinator who is motivated and ready to take the opportunity to oversee the Centre’s maintenance department as we ramp up key transition activities to support commencing operations. You also have strong communication skills and are respectful with a commitment and passion for our values and contributing to a safe and respectful environment.

About the opportunity
As a Technical Coordinator, you will be responsible for the management, supervision and decision-making within the maintenance department responsible for the housing of the people in our care. You will be responsible for managing all planned and unplanned inspection and repair works to ensure the centre remains at the highest operational standard. Your position is a senior building maintenance role and is key to embedding Serco’s operating principles at the multi-functional correctional centre.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have similar experience ideally in a correctional environment
  • Experience in the use of Computer Aided Facilities Management systems (CMMS) with FSI experience
  • Demonstrated experience in business management across a diverse work place
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience in a multi-faceted maintenance team
  • Have genuine passion for all aspects of building maintenance
  • Hold a trade Qualification in Carpentry, Electrical or Plumbing, or other relevant trade associated disciplines
  • Hold a tertiary qualification in Asset Management, Maintenance Management, Facilities Management or
  • Demonstrate a competent level of computer literacy and report writing
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Maintain a high level of personal integrity
