Job Summary
This is an exciting and rewarding career opportunity for Correctional Supervisors with a passion for training and learning. As the first hires for the state-of-the-art Clarence Correctional Centre in Grafton, you’ll get to use your passion for training as we expand our workforce ready for commencing operations in July 2020.

The Clarence Correctional Centre is due to open in mid-2020, with a 1700 bed facility, making it the largest and most state-of-the-art correctional centre in Australia. Serco Australia has a 20 year contract to operate and maintain the centre, creating the opportunity for long-term, rewarding and secure employment with exciting career prospects in one of Australia’s most spectacular coastal and country locations.

About you
We are looking for experienced Correctional Supervisors who demonstrate a passion for learning and are interested in being part of our training team. Your proven ability to work and create a culture of openness, trust and transparency coupled with your focus on living and instilling our values, while promoting equality and removing barriers to diversity will ensure you succeed in this role. Our team help build safer communities through the delivery of rehabilitation and reintegration programs which make a positive difference to the lives of those in our care, their families, and the community.

About the opportunity
As a Correctional Supervisor, you are key to the on-going success of the centre and are part of our frontline leadership group. You are responsible for the day to day management of a designated area as well as providing leadership to a team of Correctional Case Officers. You have a real opportunity to develop your career with this new state of the art facility and support and learn from senior leaders delivering on the Centre’s operational requirements, policies, procedures and relevant legislation. You will play an integral role in promoting the rehabilitation and reintegration, ensuring the safety and security of inmates and the community, and provide a decent and respectful environment for staff, visitors and the people in our care.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a strong operational understanding of a correctional or law enforcement environment
  • Be passionate about training and inspired to be part of the training leadership team
  • Have demonstrated custodial experience and hold your Certificate III Correctional Practice (CSC30115)
  • Ideally hold your Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment OR the willingness to gain the accreditation
  • Ideally hold your Certificate IV in Correctional Practice, however this is not a mandatory requirement
  • Embody Serco’s values and committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace where you lead by example
  • Have a proven ability in report writing, handling sensitive information and computer literacy
  • Proficient communication and interpersonal skills
  • Maintain a high level of integrity
