Intelligence Officer

Job Summary
This is an exciting and rewarding career opportunity for an experienced Intelligence Officer to join the Serco team at the new start of the art Correctional Centre in Grafton.

The Clarence Correctional Centre is due to open in mid-2020, with a 1700 bed facility, making it the largest and most state-of-the-art correctional centre in Australia. Serco Australia has a 20 year contract to operate and maintain the centre, creating the opportunity for long-term, rewarding and secure employment with exciting career prospects in one of Australia’s most spectacular coastal and country locations.

About you
You have a proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and enjoy working collaboratively with others to achieve goals and objectives. You understand the importance of creating and maintaining a culturally sensitive environment including respecting the diversity of inmates, staff and the community. Your exceptional interpersonal skills, coupled with the ability to establish rapport, build and maintain positive relationships, exercise sound judgement and show empathy will ensure you are well placed for success in this role. You hold the highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour and demonstrate moral values in everything you do.

About the opportunity
The key purpose of the Intelligence Officer is to support the security and intelligence collection plan, analyse and risk profile all security related information and provide intelligence assessments and recommendations. You will undertake intelligence reporting, implement intelligence plans across the centre as well as collect, collate and analyse intelligence information to provide proactive risk assessments. You will conduct risk assessments and provide expertise advice to reduce risk and review security compliance and develop strategic solutions for reducing abatements. In addition, you will assist in security exercises, systems testing and auditing and contribute to the effective operation of the security team and the Centre and maintain the confidentiality of the centre’s information.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have demonstrated intelligence experience in a similar environment
  • Ideally hold your Certificate III Correctional Practice, however this is not a mandatory requirement to be considered for this position
  • Have proven knowledge and understanding of the intelligence discipline on matters which affect the security and good order of a secure environment
  • Hold a high level of resilience with the ability to problem solve and make timely, informed decisions
  • Have a proven knowledge of intelligence processes and products
  • Have demonstrated experience working with sensitive and confidential information
  • Have proven experience in the use of information management systems and a high level of computer literacy and report writing
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Maintains high level of integrity
