The Clarence Correctional Centre is due to open in mid-2020, with a 1700 bed facility, making it the largest and most state-of-the-art correctional centre in Australia. About you

We are looking for an experienced Accommodation Manager with the highest level of personal integrity who demonstrates Serco’s values and is passionate about making a positive difference every day.  Your proven ability to work and create a culture of openness, trust and transparency, while promoting equality and removing barriers to diversity will ensure your success in this role.  We are building a dynamic and experienced correctional team, and your ability to be innovative and support new initiatives in developing and enhancing capability is critical for success in this position.

About the opportunity

The key purpose of the Accommodation Manager will be responsible for the day to day management of the inmate accommodation security and operational requirements within one of the facilities. You will be responsible for providing inspirational leadership and support to all Correctional Supervisors and Correctional Case Officers to ensure the safe and secure operations of the Centre.

This is a key role in delivering operational excellence, ensuring policies, procedures and relevant legislation are implemented and integral in promoting the rehabilitation and reintegration. You will ensure the safety and security of inmates and the community, and provide a decent and respectful environment for staff, visitors and the people in our care.

This role sees your involvement in the recruitment of the correctional teams and development of best-practice operational processes and systems to support the transition activities for the Centre.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in criminology, psychology, management, public administration or another relevant discipline or can demonstrate substantial equivalent experience in a similar level position
  • Have relevant Certificates in Corrections
  • Demonstrate considerable correctional management experience
  • A proven track record in Staff Management including the ability to build and develop teams
  • Have first-class communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong planning and problem-solving abilities including being able to develop operational processes and best practice, plus be committed to continuous improvement
  • Be passionate about inmate rehabilitation and committed to helping inmates’ transition into individuals to make a positive contribution to the community
  • Embody our values and committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace where you lead by example
  • Maintains a high level of integrity
