Job Summary
This is a long term career opportunity for a Kitchen Supervisor who is passionate about serving and contributing to a safer community. Our team helps build safer communities through the delivery of rehabilitation and reintegration programs which make a positive difference to the lives of those in our care, their families, and the community.

The Clarence Correctional Centre is due to open in mid-2020, with a 1700 bed facility, making it the largest and most state-of-the-art correctional centre in Australia. Serco Australia has a 20 year contract to operate and maintain the centre, creating the opportunity for long-term, rewarding and secure employment with exciting career prospects in one of Australia’s most spectacular coastal and country locations.

About you
We are looking for an experienced Kitchen Supervisor who demonstrates our values with a proven ability to work and create a culture of openness, trust and transparency. You will be solutions focused and you will have a natural ability to foster an environment which supports new ideas and initiatives to enhance service delivery across the centre.

About the opportunity
As the Kitchen Supervisor, you will manage and coordinate staff and inmates whilst ensuring the highest service standards are met. You will play an integral role in developing and improving work skills, to enhance post-release employment prospects and play an active role in the rehabilitation of inmates by actively participating in and overseeing their work and program activities. You will lead a team to plan, schedule and oversee the activities to ensure productivity, efficiency and objectives are achieved.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have demonstrated similar experience and hold your Certificate III or IV Commercial Cookery
  • Hold a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment or full training will be provided
  • Be an experienced people leader with the highest level of personal integrity
  • Have knowledge of regulations or specific work requirements relevant to the trade area
  • Have knowledge and an understanding of OH&S requirements
  • Have exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to establish rapport and exercise sound judgement
  • Understand the needs of people from different ethnic, cultural and lifestyle backgrounds
  • Be able to work collaboratively across the wider team to maintain the safety and security
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Maintains the highest level of integrity
