An exciting opportunity exists for motivated individuals to play a significant role in the operations and customer experience of the City of Port Adelaide Enfields new The Lights' Community & Sports Centre at Lightsview.

The Community & Sport Services Officer is part of a high-performing team responsible for delivering Council's vision[1] [link removed] for The Lights Community & Sports Centre.  The position:

  • delivers a consistently high standard of customer service to individuals and groups using the Centre which is professional, welcoming, and engaging;
  • supports the day-to-day operations of the Centre;
  • contributes to activities, programs, functions and events.

 

To be successful in the position you will bring skills and experience relevant to the role, together with enthusiasm, innovation, and a can-do attitude.

 

The Community & Sport Services Officers may be required to work extended hours across a seven day roster, to ensure the ongoing operation of the Centre.

 

The Community & Sport Services Officer may also be required from time-to-time to support the work of Council's Lefevre Community Stadium.  This may include undertaking similar duties at this site.

About the position:

The role of Community & Sport Services Officer:

  • Plays a critical role in delivering professional, welcoming, engaging and consistent customer service that exceeds customer expectations by taking centre bookings, accepting payments, and providing a welcoming environment to centre users.
  • Supports the day-to-day centre operations of the Centre by opening and closing the centre; setting up (and packing up) courts, rooms, and function spaces for sport and recreation activities, community gatherings, activities, and events; acting as a Centre host/ concierge for functions being delivered by The Lights; and undertaking tasks to ensure the facility is appropriately presented and maintained, and a safe environment available for users at all times.
  • Contributing to programs, activities, functions and events by gathering information about the needs and interests of community members to inform programming at the Centre; supporting the work of the Community and Sports Program Officer and undertaking other duties as required to successfully deliver programs, activities, functions and events.

 

The successful applicant will ideally possess:

  • A tertiary qualification, or comparable experience, in sport, recreation, fitness, allied health, or a related industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in a customer service setting.
  • Experience working with or within an indoor sport and recreation facility.
  • Experience in cashiering (including point of sale systems).
  • A current South Australian Working with Children Check (WWCC), formerly known as Child Related' screening through the Department of Community and Social Inclusion, or willingness to undergo screening prior to employment.
  • A current Senior First Aid certificate or willingness to successfully complete.
