Aviation Safety and Quality Coordinator - 12 Month Contract

Reporting to the Airnorth Safety and Compliance Manager, this position is a 12 month contract which is responsible for providing aviation specific audit and investigative function to Airnorth and to the Bristow Australia Safety Services in support of Bristow Helicopters Australia (BHA). The Aviation Safety and Quality Coordinator will support AOC, AMO, CAMO and associated activities, ensuring BHA and Airnorth are in compliance to CASA, Manufacturer, Clients and Bristow Group requirements.

The Aviation Safety and Quality Coordinator is responsible for administering the AIRS Database, providing FDAP reports to the FOSPC and assisting with the implementation, maintenance and education during induction and refresher training in the:

  • Safety Management System (SMS),
  • Transport Security Program (TSP),
  • Emergency Response Plan (ERP),
  • Drug and Alcohol Management Plan (DAMP),
  • Human Factors and Non-Technical Skillsto 

To ensure that it is robust, efficient and dynamic.

Responsblities: 

  • Administer the AIRS Database;
  • Maintains the FDM program and analyses the data to identify events of concern for Flight Operations and Continuing Airworthiness;
  • Works with Flight Operations Standards and Policy Committee to; to present FDM event data and display trend analysis and Identify hazards and risks associated with FDM data;
  • Perform all functions of a Quality Assurance Auditor as required in accordance with the respective audit requirements for Airnorth / BHA;
  • Appropriately plan internal audits in accordance with the respective audit requirements;
  • Conduct internal audits to meet Airnorth / BHA requirements in accordance with the audit plans;
  • Conduct external contractor/supplier audits to meet Airnorth / BHA requirements to ensure continued compliance with agreed procedures and the requirements of the regulatory authority;
  • Support audit planning for Airnorth / BHA;
  • Maintain regular communication with the auditee and the respective Manager during internal/external audits;
  • Provide specialist assurance advice as part of continuous improvement of Airnorth / BHA assurance process;
  • Monitor Airnorth / BHA assurance process for regulatory, client and Bristow Group compliance and provide guidance/advice to Management;
  • Produce appropriate audit reports as required in accordance with the timings and requirements specified in the applicable SMS;
  • Ensure all deficiencies found internally and externally are raised in the audit report to allow appropriate follow up actions;
  • Identify common audit requirements and seek efficiencies across the audit program;
  • Perform functions of a Safety Investigator as required in accordance with the respective investigation requirements for Airnorth / BHA;
  • Appropriately plan Investigations in accordance with the respective requirements for Airnorth / BHA;
  • Conduct internal safety investigations as directed to meet Airnorth / BHA requirements;
  • Brief Airnorth / BHA management on the progress/outcome of aviation safety investigations;
  • Provide specialist Safety Investigation advice to Airnorth / BHA Safety/Quality Management as part of continuous improvement of Airnorth / BHA processes.

  • Ability to hold and maintain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) (essential)
  • Holder of a valid passport without restriction (essential)
