Technical Officer

Kelly Scientific is looking for a Technical Officer (Microbiological Analysis)

Our client provides a range of water and wastewater services including sampling, analysis, advice and research. They offer a wide range of water quality and treatment technology solutions and provides expert advice for national and international projects.

The successful candidate is expected to support the delivery of value and excellence in analytical services to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction and business growth.

The role:

  • Participate in staff rotation and multi-skilling across the Business Unit to develop in an increasing range of analytical techniques.
  • Contribute to profitability by the reduction of waste and highly effective utilisation of chemicals and consumables.
  • Contribute to review processes of methods performed and make recommendations to the Supervisor and make changes as directed.
  • Participate in internal audits, NATA/BSI/Quarantine audits, Proficiency Testing and Programs.
  • Take responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others, ensuring awareness and that all responsibilities are met, including timely entering as required of hazards and incidents
  • Conduct risk assessments, stock holdings and workplace inspections as required.
  • Implement the direction set by your people leader.
  • Collaborate effectively to ensure team goals are achieved by providing input into decision making and problem solving.
  • Contribute to the creation of a high performing team with customer service excellence culture.
  • Perform accurate and timely analyses for all clients to ensure contractual obligations are met and a high level of customer satisfaction is achieved.
  • Provide results in an accurate and timely manner, including result authorisation and sample endorsement in LIMS as required.

To be successful you will meet the following criteria:

  • Diploma or advanced diploma in Science or relevant equivalent experience
  • Sound knowledge and experience in applying the principles of modern scientific analytical techniques in Life Sciences
  • Demonstrated experience in laboratory information management systems, NATA and ISO quality management requirements, processes and procedures
  • Sound knowledge of WHS practices and requirements for a laboratory
  • Experience in routine maintenance and troubleshooting of modern scientific analytical instruments as applicable to discipline
