Cleaning Assistant

About us:

Catering Industries Pty Ltd is a leading provider of contracted hospitality services (catering, cleaning and laundry) to Australia's health and aged care, education, government, corporate and resources sector.  We currently employ over 1,300 personnel across various operations in our active markets.

Role summary:

We are seeking cleaners to join our team and work up to 30 hours per week in Annandale (Sydney's Inner West).

Key Attributes:

  • Previous experience in aged care cleaning or commercial cleaning.
  • Excellent communication skills - proficient in reading, writing and speaking English.
  • Must have driver's licence and reliable vehicle
  • Able to use cleaning equipment efficiently and safely
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of Work, Health & Safety and Infection Control
  • High level of respect for the elderly and experience in aged care cleaning will be a bonus.

Duties Include: 

  • Cleaning in an Aged Care facility including resident rooms, public areas, ensuites and dining rooms etc.
  • Sweeping, vacuuming. mopping and participating in the infection control program
  • Maintains records of completion of cleaning schedule duties
  • Safe storage and use of cleaning agents including correct cleaning agents used in correct quantities for each task
  • Contributes to a safe environment when undertaking duties ensuring equipment is not obscuring exits and passageways
  • Damp dusting
  • Waste Management
  • Completing records and log books

Hours of Work:

Shifts are approximately 5 hours per day.  We have shifts available every day of the week.

You must have unlimited right to work in Australia. 

All successful applicants will receive a full company induction, on-going training and support from our highly experienced and hands-on management team.

Skills and experience

  • 1+ year's experience in a similar role - aged care experience highly regarded but not essential
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Collaborative and team player 
  • Ability to multi-task and complete tasks within deadlines
  • Empathy and respect towards aged care residents, staff and clients.
  • Must have own reliable transport and unrestricted drivers licence
