Bendigo Bank has a unique position in the Banking and Finance industry: we are a trusted brand with a high Net Promoter Score and the time is right for growth as businesses reconsider the sort of bank they want to partner with.  When you work at Bendigo Bank what you do matters: to local businesses and to their communities.

About the role

At Bendigo Bank, our Business Customer division has resourced our teams to ensure we can provide the high level of service and face to face relationships that our customers are looking for and that give us our competitive advantage.

Known internally as a Small Business Manager you will manage a small portfolio of business clients with complex lending typically in the range of $200k - $750k across a variety of industries.   Portfolio growth is a large part of this role and you will be connected with a large network of company and Community Bank® Branches who are well respected and strongly engaged with the communities they serve.

Key to this role is:

Business development: There are huge opportunities for growth in the Small Business sector and business development will be an important part of your role: Develop and implement localised plans to raise the profile of Small Business in the community, deepen existing relationships and acquire new customers.

Relationship management: Connect with your customers through quality conversations to design and deliver innovative, holistic and needs-based solutions.  Build deep and lasting relationships.  Maintain credit and portfolio quality.

Collaboration:  Work closely with internal stakeholders: form partnership relationships with branch managers, coach and lead education of Branch teams, build trusted relationships with Credit Risk.

This is a full time, permanent position, with flexible work options available.  Whilst based in our Fairy Meadows Branch, at times you will work from branches in the NSW South Coast area to better service your customers and strengthen the relationship with the consumer team.

About you

Bendigo Bank is growing in the Small Business space and we are looking for someone who will grasp this opportunity with enthusiasm and proactively work with our branches and other business stakeholders to take our business to the next level.   We want someone who understands that every business has a story to tell and who will build a deep relationship with their customer to discover their amazing story and help them to tell it.

It will be essential that you have:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience with, SME markets
  • Proven and proactive approach to business development (established quality referral sources and networks will be advantageous)
  • Well-developed business lending and credit analysis skills

Plus:

  • Customers are front of mind in everything you do
  • Strong communication skills and confidence in face to face conversations
  • Passion and knack for sales
  • Success in building strong stakeholder relationships
  • Ability to lead education sessions and share knowledge
  • Strength in negotiation and influencing others

What we offer

  • Innovative sales and leadership development programs
  • As part of a national organisation we can offer exciting opportunities within the broader Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Group
  • Competitive remuneration package
  • A range of staff benefits including discounts on bank products and services, share offers, flexible work options, paid parental leave and purchased leave options, excellent learning and development programs

About us

Bendigo and Adelaide Bank is the better big bank: Australia’s fifth largest retail bank and a top 70 ASX listed company.  We are a national organization with more than 7,500 employees helping 1.6 million customers to achieve their financial goals.
