The Australian Cancer Survivorship Centre - A Richard Pratt legacy (ACSC) based at Peter Mac are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and collaborative Research Assistant to join our team. This is a full time, 12 month contract. There may be the possibility of extension after that date.

 

The Research Assistant, Survivorship will work with the ACSC team and other key stakeholders including the Department of Cancer Experiences Research to deliver on state-wide initiatives relating to: definition and measurement of quality cancer survivorship care, and reduction in variation of cancer survivorship care in Victoria. Project outcomes will have:

  • state-wide implications and national relevance for cancer survivorship policy and care
  • relevance for the next Victorian Cancer Plan: 2020-2024
  • Interest from key stakeholders, including the Victorian Government and Integrated Cancer Services

You will need qualitative and quantitative research skills, critical appraisal skills, project management skills, and strong writing skills.

 

Essential requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in science, health, public policy or related discipline
  • Previous experience as a Research Assistant, ideally in a healthcare setting
  • Demonstrated skills in data collection, management and analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out high quality literature searches using appropriate databases
  • Demonstrated ability to use data to write literature reviews and reports
  • Experience in conducting stakeholder interviews and focus groups
  • Demonstrated  qualitative research skills
  • Proficiency in information technology, including Microsoft Office suite, databases, and statistical programs e.g. REDCap, Endnote, SPSS etc.
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable

  • Knowledge of cancer survivorship literature and policy, or willingness to learn
  • Experience completing environmental scans and/or large scale surveys, ideally using Delphi approach
  • Experience in Human Research Ethics Committee applications and amendments
