Western Diagnostic Pathology (WDP) and Vetpath Laboratory Services provide diagnostic pathology services throughout Western Australia and the Northern Territory. WDP has 10 medical laboratories across the region, more than 200 collection sites, and a team of nearly 900 people, while Vetpath is a specialist veterinary laboratory dedicated to providing a first class diagnostic pathology service to veterinarians.  We pride ourselves on our commitment to research, innovation, and continuous improvement.

We are seeking a part-time Quality Officer (3 days per week) to join our team based in Myaree on a fixed term, 12-month contract. This role reports to the Quality Manager and is responsible for assisting the Quality Manager in the promotion of a culture of quality management and quality improvement processes throughout Western Diagnostic Pathology and Vetpath Laboratory Services via the implementation and maintenance of NATA, NPAAC, and RCPA accreditation requirements.

Some travel, including overnight stays, to hospitals and regional laboratories, could be required on a monthly basis.

All appointments are made subject to the applicant having documented full immunity against Hepatitis B.

About the role:

  • Maintain the laboratories’ NATA and RCPA accreditation
  • Maintain the laboratories’ quality procedures and processes
  • Provide quality management education and training to employees
  • Conduct internal audits
  • Identify and review of KPIs across all key processes

To be successful for the role, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor of Medical Science or equivalent from an Australian Tertiary institution of recognised equivalent
  • A strong understanding of the ISO 15189:2012, ISO 17025:2017, AS/NZS 4308:2008 and AS 4760:2006
  • Self-motivated; a well-organised individual, with excellent management skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Attention to detail and ability to perform work with a high degree of precision and accuracy
  • Strong communication skills with a diverse team that may be geographically spread
  • Experience in Pathology laboratory environment (essential)
