Founded in 1970, Ted Noffs Foundation is a nationwide organisation which offers young people the support and opportunities to reach their full potential.

The Nepean Blue Mountains early intervention case management program will provide culturally appropriate, strengths-based case management support to Aboriginal young people, including students in the Deadly Dreaming program. The Caseworker will ensure seamless access and integration of clients to Street University Penrith programs.

The successful candidate will work with vulnerable Indigenous young people aged 12-25 with or at risk of alcohol and other drug related difficulties. This role will assist in rebuilding their relationship with their families and other significant people in their lives and to manage their lives more effectively.

Responsibilities and duties include:

  • Conduct thorough assessments which will allow you to formulate clinical and case work treatment plans.
  • Provide regular individual counselling support and brief family interventions if indicated.
  • Develop a comprehensive case management plan in collaboration with the clients.
  • Provide family support where needed to improve relationships between the young person, their family and community.
  • Liaise effectively with referrers, other service providers and families with particular regard to the Department of Community Services.
  • Maintain client records, statistical records and data on service delivery reports as required by the service specifications and Noffs data requirements.
  • Be a resource for other services in the areas of Alcohol & Other Drugs (AOD) individual, group and family therapy and related areas.

Essential Criteria:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications.
  • Experience and/or demonstrated ability to work with Indigenous young people and their families.
  • Experience in conducting a clinical assessment, developing case plans, providing advocacy and referral, and liaising closely with other professionals.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both as a team member and as a practitioner with minimal supervision.
  • Strong personal and interpersonal boundaries.
  • Commitment to the principles of harm minimisation and to the aims of the The Noffs Foundation.
  • Successful candidates MUST have a current and valid NSW Working With Children Check prior to commencing employment.
  • Current driver's licence and a good driving record.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in the drug and alcohol sector.
  • Minimum 12 months direct casework experience.
