About The Company

Our client is a not for profit Registered Community Housing Provider, operating in the NSW co-operative housing sector with the individual housing co-operatives as members. The majority of co-operatives are located in the Sydney Metropolitan region with the balance located in regional areas of NSW. Our client is currently looking for a Property Officer for a temporary to permanent opportunity.

About The Role

If you are looking at moving off the tools then the Property Officer role could be for you, the role is responsible for the overall maintenance of all the properties that are held by the company approx. 500 which are shared through the team. The property officer will inspect properties, develop maintenance plans and budgets, arrange and supervise repairs and upgrades, monitor progress and quality of work and provide reports as required

Duties

The Property Officer is an integral part in the following key areas;

  • Inspect all properties in accordance with an agreed timetable
  • Review maintenance plans and budgets prepared by co-operatives for maintenance under their control
  • Prepare maintenance plans and budgets for maintenance and repairs under the control of the company
  • Arrange and supervise maintenance and repairs under the control of the company
  • Monitor progress and quality of work
  • Report against budget and performance
  • Ensure appropriate risk management procedures are in place and implemented including compliance with appropriate legislation
  • Maintain a good relationship with co-operatives and tenants

What You Require to Succeed In This Role

Qualifications:

  • Trade qualification in carpentry or something similar
  • Current Drivers License

Skills and approach

  • Co-ordination of complex projects
  • Planning, negotiation and good time management skills
  • Presenting information verbally and visually to diverse stakeholders
  • Working independently with minimal direct supervision
  • A commitment to social justice
