About our team
SIMEC Mining, a member of GFG Alliance, has operations in SA and NSW. Our Iron Ore operation in South Australia’s Middleback Ranges South of Whyalla; consist of three primary sites: Iron Baron, Iron Knob and the South Middleback Ranges. Whyalla is a diverse coastal community based approximately 400 km from Adelaide.

About the role
Based in Whyalla and reporting into the Manager Mining, the Superintendent Mining will take a lead role in managing mining activities across our Iron Baron mine site.

You will also;

  • Lead the team on site, driving the operation to deliver mine plans safely and effectively
  • Lead the site team to run the mine site to an outstanding professional standard.
  • Work with the site team to resolve technical and safety issues
  • Administer the major contracts for the mine site
  • Oversee the budget and commercial reporting

About your experience
You will be a dedicated individual who is passionate and committed to the successful running of the mine site. You are the type of person who will always go the extra mile and make themselves available to support your team whenever needed.

You will have strong leadership qualities with the ability to influence, motivate and critique constructively.

You will also have;

  • 6+ years’ experience in Mining engineering
  • Open pit mining experience
  • Mine planning, pit supervision and contractor management experience
  • Negotiation skills with the ability to make decisions under pressure
  • Experience in commercial reporting and budgeting
