A Specialist Anaesthesia appointment available in a large regional referral centre. Contribute your expertise to the complex, high acuity workload required of our Department in a region with rapid population growth. Excellent local schools and recreational opportunities. It is a 10 minute commute to work or beach and you can travel to the major cities in a few hours.



Port Macquarie Base Hospital has undergone a recent major expansion. This combined with population growth, ageing and increasing subspecialty, need for Anaesthetic support creates this opportunity to join our established department of 17 Specialist Anaesthetists and 7 Registrars. 


All surgical specialties with the exception of neuro and cardiothoracic surgery are provided and the hospital acts as a referral centre for the entire Mid North Coast for many major complex procedures.

Home to the only Rural Medical school offering complete undergraduate medical training, there is great opportunity to contribute to the education and training of the next generation of Doctors, Nurses and Allied Heath practitioners.


What you'll be doing


Provide contemporary comprehensive specialist services for optimal patient outcomes. 
 
Provide and support training to clinicians across multiple disciplines to achieve quality education and safe clinical practice.

  1. Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Anaesthetist.
  2. Demonstrated recent clinical experience in Anaesthesia at the role delineation of the service
  3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
  4. Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  5. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
  6. Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
