ABOUT THE ROLE

As part of Wood & Grieve now part of Stantec’s commitment to creating a global Fire Engineering team, we are seeking a motivated and driven senior /associate /principal level Fire Engineering professional to take on the role of growing our Brisbane Fire Engineering section.

The role of Section Manager is suited to a proactive individual who is looking to take the next step in their career.

This newly created role is suitable for a qualified candidate with substantial experience across all project sizes from low rise to high rise building projects. We are involved in a vast variety of project types including retail, office, prison, defence, residential, hospitals, industrial, education and infrastructure.

You will enjoy a diverse position and will need to have the ability to multitask and share your time between project involvement, business development, section performance and management responsibilities. There is a strong community working environment here at WGE, therefore it is important that you have the ability to guide and support your multidisciplinary team whilst staying on top of your other duties.

With the support of a 30 strong Australian wide team you will be welcomed into this brand-new role. Through this role you will develop both professional and personal skills, to forge a rewarding career path. 

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Extensive Fire Engineering experience, predominately working in consultancy environment
  • Sound knowledge of Australian Building Codes and standards
  • Good understanding of building services especially those which integrate fire safety strategy in their design
  • Ability to multitask between project involvement, Section performance and management responsibilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines
  • Positive, can-do attitude

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support and offer guidance to Project Engineers, Engineers and Graduate Engineers
  • Management of current and future workloads / staffing levels within the Section to achieve attainment of financial targets whilst ensuring high staff morale
  • Design, documentation and superintendence including project review, liaison with client and consultant team, liaison with authorities, reporting, contract administration and quality audits
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and proactively engage with your discipline in other offices
  • Adhere to professional standards, ethics and WGE quality procedures
