Vanderlande Industries

Vanderlande is the global market leader for value-added logistic process automation at airports, and in the parcel market. The company is also a leading supplier of process automation solutions for warehouses.

The company focuses on the optimisation of its customers’ business processes and competitive positions. Through close cooperation, it strives for the improvement of their operational activities and the expansion of their logistical achievements. Vanderlande’s extensive portfolio of integrated solutions – innovative systems, intelligent software and life-cycle services – results in the realisation of fast, reliable and efficient automation technology.

Your Position

Based in the South-Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, you will work in one of the biggest automated warehousing solutions that has ever been built by Vanderlande.

Working on a shift rotation, you will be responsible for responding to all system callouts, errors notifications, blockages, alarms and warnings occurring on the system. You will be trained on how to solve simple/low risk electro-mechanical issues on the system. You may also be responsible for any and all technical related cleaning activities occurring on the system. In addition, you will be trained to exchange several types of consumables (e.g. foil, labels and cartons). You will effectively and clearly communicate all events/activities occurring on the system to the maintenance teams and maintain the professionalism expected by a Vanderlande employee.

Reporting directly to your Shift Leader, you will support the maintenance team by doing any ad hoc duties required by the Site Manager or Shift Leader.

Tasks and duties include, but not limited to:

  • Effectively respond and react to any operational callouts, error notifications, blockages, alarms and warnings as instructed.
  • Exchange / refill consumables (e.g. foil, labels, cartons).
  • Clean parts of the system as part of maintenance or when technical related spillages occur.
  • Effectively communicate all system events clearly to relevant teams in order to minimize customer operations.
  • Monitoring Vanderlande equipment and advising client/customer staff on proper machine process and operation.
  • Effectively clear any system issues or blockages where required.
  • Keep the workplace, system and floor space clean and tidy and observe OH&S procedures at all times.
  • Assist maintenance staff with general maintenance duties where/when needed.
  • Perform low risk tasks such as repair pneumatic leaks, replace filters and sensor alignments/replacements.
  • Be able to execute instructions as directed and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ensure that all activities, breakdowns and incidents are clearly documented.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) when working at all times.
  • Ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe manner and comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Required to undertake any other reasonable duty as instructed by your Manager or other Maintenance Team Members.

The ideal candidate:

  • Highly motivated individual with ability to learn quickly.
  • Have basic problem solving abilities.
  • Able to work in a team environment.
  • Good English communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Experience within a warehouse environment preferred, not essential (not a heavy machinery environment).
  • Punctual, dependable and well presented.
  • Mechanical or electrical aptitude.
  • Current Forklift license is highly beneficial, not essential.
  • Physically fit.
  • Available for an immediate start if necessary.
  • Hold an Australian or New Zealand citizenship or have an Australian Permanent Residency with unrestricted rights to work in Australia.

You will be required to work on a 4 on / 4 off rotating roster with a work schedule of two 12 hour day shifts, two 12 hour night shifts and four consecutive days off.

A competitive remuneration package will be offered to someone who is a team player with a positive, energetic attitude and work ethic as well as the ability to think outside the square.

In a world of technology, Vanderlande believes in people – its employees make the difference in everything the company does. To apply for this unique and exciting opportunity, submit your cover letter and resume.

ID checks will be performed to verify work entitlements in Australia.
