UG Mine Surveyor

About the business

Moolarben Coal Operations is a joint venture operated by Yancoal Australia Limited in Mudgee, New South Wales. With the vision to become one of the country’s largest and most technologically advanced coal mining companies, Yancoal is growing organically and through targeted acquisition. The Moolarben Coal Operations consist of an Underground Coal Mine, Open Cut Coal Mine and CHPP approved to produce a total 21mtpa Run of Mine (ROM). 

Job tasks and responsibilities

Reporting to the Underground Registered Mine Surveyor, you will be a part of a dynamic and motivated team. The role will require you to provide assistance in survey control and planning services to the Registered Mine Surveyor of the Underground Mining Operation as you:

  • Develop and update mining plans using the AutoCAD Civil 3D product.
  • Operate survey instruments including Total Station, GPS and Level.
  • Collect and process survey data to assist in preparation of plans reports and other forms of spatial information.
  • Complete subsidence surveys in accordance with relevant mining approvals

Skills and experience

Essential Criteria:

  • A degree in Surveying or an equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 3yrs experience in Underground Mining.
  • Very good interpersonal skills, including excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A professional work ethic and the ability to strive for continuous improvement.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • manned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and photogrammetry software would be desirable.
