Climate and Energy Reporter

The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age are looking for an experienced reporter to take on the national environment and energy round and produce agenda-setting journalism.

The successful applicant will have a proven track record of breaking news, and the ability to quickly develop deep contacts and expertise in their assigned areas.

As a key member of the Parliament House bureau in Canberra, the environment and energy reporter will be able to balance the needs of both online and print platforms, produce publish-ready copy and have an understanding of how to build an engaged audience for their stories.

They will be able to demonstrate a diverse knowledge of federal politics and corporate Australia, have excellent news instincts, possess strong communication skills and bring creativity and innovation to the delivery of news, comment, analysis, images and video to our homepages, social platforms and print products.
