Design Engineer / Product Designer

We are currently seeking an experienced Design Engineer/Product Designer to join our highly skilled and motivated team based in Ballarat developing an industry-leading product.

You will have a passion for large-scale mechanical equipment with the drive to develop world-leading products.

Operating under the guidance of our Lead Engineers/Designers and within the wider engineering team, the key responsibilities for this role include:

  • working collaboratively to develop innovative trailer combination designs compliant with australian design regulations (ADR) & performance based standards (PBS);
  • designing products for the road transportation industry utilising solidworks
  • using design for assembly methodology, to ensure manufacturing feasibility and error proofing are embedded in the product by design;
  • ensuring customer requirements are met and translated into engineering specifications, ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory requirements;
  • examining drawings, designs, materials and equipment for conformity with project specifications;
  • providing technical support in the preparation of documentation; and
  • contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, design reviews and problem-solving activities.

Our ideal applicant will possess:

  • a commitment to safe working practices;
  • diploma/degree qualification in engineering (mechanical preferred) and/or proven experience in manufacturing;
  • experience working with Solidworks, Autocad or similar;
  • the ability to work autonomously and efficiently manage and prioritise personal workloads to meet or exceed scheduling targets;
  • the ability to build rapport with key stakeholders, internal and external; and
  • excellent communication skills.
