Senior Communications Officer

What do we do?

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) was established to provide a coordinated and integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of primary health care services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the South East Qld Region. The IUIH is a lead agency working in partnership with key stakeholders to support the effective implementation of the Council of Australian Governments ‘Closing the Gap’ initiatives.

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Communications Officer to take responsibility for the provision of communications expertise in the development and implementation of communications planning, campaigns and communication productions.

About the Role:

  • Provide expertise in communications and public relations advice to senior management on a broad range of issues affecting the sector
  • Research, prepare and develop public relations materials including media releases, articles, advertising and web and social media content
  • Lead the planning, development and implementation of communication strategies for various audiences including project managing campaigns
  • Oversee web content and contribute to continuous quality improvement strategies to ensure currency of website
  • Develop promotional documentation for IUIH events and activities including community events and healthy lifestyle promotions

Key Requirement Include:

  • Current Drivers License
  • Criminal History Check
  • Qualification in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, PR and equivalent relevant experience
  • Project management experience with the ability to manage a marketing campaign from inception to completion
  • Demonstrated ability to write, edit and develop creative communications, media and digital content across a variety of platforms
  • Ability to work sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in a fast paced environment
