Housing Connector


About the opportunity

The housing connector will be required to work within a team environment, provide information, referral, “drop in support”, crisis services and strengths based casework that is driven by the needs to people experiencing or at risk of homelessness on the Central Coast. This is a full time position where you will work with the Doorways (Hunter, New England and Central Coast) team in their office in Gosford.


Responsibilities:

  • Work with local government and non-government service providers to develop leading edge referral pathways to best meet the needs of homeless or at risk of homelessness families.
  • Provide telephone and face to face advice and information, needs assessment, referral support, case coordination, outreach and short intervention support for vulnerable families and monitor the delivery services to the family.
  • Provide data and reports to FaCS to meet evaluation and reporting requirements.
  • Set up communication systems between housing providers so that organisations and programs are linked together and have clear and consistent communication.  

 

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in social sciences and relevant experience working with vulnerable families.
  • Experience working with homeless people and families.
  • Understanding of child protection issues and issues facing vulnerable families.
  • Ability to actively engage people in crisis using a client-centred approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess families/ Individual needs using a strengths based approach.
  • Current drivers licence and willingness to use own or private vehicle (with comprehensive insurance) for work related travel if required, and willingness to transport families and children.
 



Employment with Uniting is subject to satisfactory background checks which include a National Police Check and Reference Check.
