Reporting to the Manager Waste Services, you will work collaboratively across the organisation on all aspects, from project development through to implementation, across a portfolio of complex waste management projects. You will lead a highly skilled and experienced team of waste management professionals responsible for the development and delivery of the City’s strategic waste management projects, and have the opportunity to engage with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve project objectives, identify project interdependencies and balance competing demands. You will therefore:

  • Provide effective leadership to the project team to create a positive and productive culture of engagement and accountability in accordance with the City’s vision.

What you will need

You will be passionate about the planning and implementation of strategic projects and be able to demonstrate strong project management, procurement and logistic skills. You will therefore require:

  • A University degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Significant experience in a project management role, delivering complex projects within a large and complex organisation.
  • Advanced business commercial acumen.
  • Highly skilled in resource management including workforce planning, development and management; financial planning and budget management; most effective utilisation of limited resources; and developing business strategy.
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Advanced communication (written, verbal and public speaking) and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced research and analysis skills.
  • Advanced negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Advanced organisational skills.
  • Advanced skills in the efficient utilisation of information systems and technology.
  • Extensive knowledge of project management, resource planning and budget management.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of occupational health and safety measures in the workplace, including risk assessment and control implementation.

What you will get in return

This highly rewarding, and equally challenging position will see you working with a fantastic and supportive team who are committed to delivering best practice outcomes for the community. You will receive an attractive total remuneration package over a 3 year contract. This will include on site car parking and additional co-contributions to superannuation up to 15%. More importantly, you will be given the opportunity to shape WA’s fastest growing City’s approach to waste management, in alignment to a well-defined future vision and to enrich a progressive culture focused on top performance.

Applicants may be required to undergo a medical assessment to determine their fitness to carry out the duties of this position.
