Role Summary

The College is seeking a passionate, highly skilled Preparatory Teacher’s Aide who is committed to delivering meaningful learning experiences that enrich each child’s sense of creativity and curiosity. This is a term-time only role, Monday to Friday 8.00am to 4.00pm.      

The College offers a two-day and three-day Preparatory program, providing a high-quality Christian school-readiness program to children in a school environment with a focus on early literacy and numeracy skills and the development of social skills. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Working collaboratively with Preparatory Teachers to develop resources and implement learning programs for Preparatory students
  • Assist Preparatory Teachers in the classroom as required 
  • Build learning relationships through employing restorative practices

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist in providing students with the opportunity to develop personal, social and independent learning skills
  • Shared pastoral responsibility for class
  • Reinforce appropriate behaviours in the classroom
  • Organise and collate literacy and numeracy resources for a mixed ability classroom
  • Assist in making the Preparatory classroom a safe and secure environment for students
  • Assist the Preparatory Teachers with monitoring and evaluating student’s individual education progress
  • Ability and willingness to engage in daily conversations with parents about their child’s learning and development
  • Uphold the Christian teachings of the College, encouraging students to serve others and explore Christ
  • Active participation in co-curricular activities, as well as fulfilment of other duty of care responsibilities as directed by the College

Skills / Knowledge/ Attributes

  • Regularly practicing member of a Christian church
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with teachers, and work as part of a team
  • Display a passion for Early Childhood education
  • Demonstrated passion for child-centred learning, and proven ability to effectively build rapport with students, together with excellent classroom management skills
  • Work ethic reflecting a commitment to excellence in teaching
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills; must possess the ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities within strict deadlines
  • Restorative Justice approach to behaviour management

Qualifications / Experience

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a similar educational environment
  • First Aid Qualifications or a willingness to obtain them
