Access and Demand Coordinator (Community Housing)

About the role:

The Access and Demand Coordinator responds to the requirements of the FaCS Housing Register and of Housing Pathways, supporting vulnerable people to apply and access the range of NSW Government social housing products.   

The Access and Demand Coordinator is the first point of contact for people seeking social housing assistance, providing responsive services to people who have immediate, and long-term housing needs, ensuring they understand the assistance options available to them and facilitating access to appropriate services and monitoring the overall response of NCCH in relation to requests for housing assistance, liaising with direct service staff and managing housing allocations.

The position ensures that vacant social housing properties are allocated to eligible households in a fair and transparent manner in accordance with NCCH and NSW Government Housing Pathways policies and procedures.  The position also involves working with existing NCCH social housing tenants who require transfers to other social housing properties internally that better meet their housing needs.   

Essential Selection Criteria:

  • Experience in executing a broad range of administrative and clerical duties with a focus on attention to detail and accuracy in all written communication.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of clients from highly diverse backgrounds and an empathy for clients with high and/or additional support needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross sector agencies and the skills to work in an autonomous manner.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills including the ability to maintain diplomacy with internal/external relationships and well developed emotional intelligence. 
  • Excellent I.T skills, including proficiency with MS Office Programs and ability to work with a range of internal intranet systems.  
  • Current NSW drivers licence.

Desirable Selection Criteria:

  • Previous knowledge or experience within the housing/community services sector.
  • Knowledge of relevant housing and/or residential tenancy statutes/legislation, awareness of current/emerging trends of social housing products and services. 
  • Knowledge and experience utilising NSW Homes System.
  • Relevant qualification in community services sector.
