Manager - Supported Independent Living Services


An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Manager to lead a new era in service delivery for Minda.

We are looking for a dynamic and outcome driven leader to join us in the role of Manager, Supported Independent Living, Mount Gambier/Limestone Coast 

As a leader, you will be responsible for building a high performing team, acting as a positive role model and ensuring that you uphold our values – Heart, Opportunity, Community, Respect and Empathy.

Your commitment to person centred practices will ensure the development and implementation of strategies and practices aimed at supporting valued outcomes for clients and families.  These include ensuring a high level of quality, achievement of standards, legislative requirements, service provision and financial management.

The successful candidate will have significant recent experience working within the disability sector and extensive knowledge of the Disability Services Act (1986) and Disability Service Standards.

To be considered you will need to be able to demonstrate:

  • The ability to provide sound leadership and direction to staff using best practice and Person Centred Approaches, to achieve successful outcomes for the individuals we support
  • Effective monitoring of staff teams to ensure appropriately skilled and qualified staff to deliver high quality services to clients/residents
  • Overseeing the recruitment, induction, training and supervision of employees and contribute to the safe placement of volunteers/students
  • Responsibility for the financial expenditure for the people we support and organisational budget in line with appropriate funding
  • Ensuring the implementation of disability standards in service delivery
  • Overseeing performance reviews, and developing performance improvement plans in conjunction with staff to ensure best practice and compliance with legislative and workplace policy requirements
  • Adherence to workplace health safety and welfare, ensuring policies and procedures are communicated and staff are compliant with safety plans
  • The ability to build professional relationships with families, advocates, friends, the community and other professionals.
  • The ability to effectively manage time and prioritise tasks.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • The ability to prepare briefings, reports and other communications for presentation to a wide group of stakeholders.
  • Sound knowledge of current theory and practice in provision of services to people living with disabilities.
  • An understanding of Disability Services Standards and relevant legislation.

Relevant tertiary qualifications and previous experience in leading and managing change are desirable.
