Mater Research is a world-class facility that is committed to academic medicine and aims to discover, develop, translate and commercialise medical research that integrates with relveant areas of excellence within clinical practice. Proud of its strong history and relationship with Mater, Mater Research is continuing to drive medical innovation which can be translated into clinical care for the benefit of all. 

Mater Research has an exceptional opportunity for a Management Accountant to join our Finance Team in a full-time capacity to support the continued financial liability of our organisation. In this position you will provide sound financial and management information to key stakeholders.

 

The Management Accountant’s role encompass the following duties:

  • Provide timely financial management reports with added insight and analysis for Mater Research.
  • Prepare and develop Management and Board reports with discussion and input from the business.
  • Attend departmental management meetings to provide analysis and input on financial, activity and FTE performance against plan.
  • Regularly meet with business partners to offer insight in the review of financial performance and investigate variances from budget, working collaboratively to establish corrective action plans as required. 
  • Understand, actively monitor and communicate the revenue, volume and cost drivers of the business.
  • Review, analysis and communicate the financial impact of business decisions/initiatives of business partners, incorporating impact into budget as appropriate via the Management Budget amendment process.

 

The qualifications and attributes that will facilitate your success in this role are:

  • Recognised tertiary degree in Commerce, Accounting or Finance.
  • Membership of either the Australian Society of Certified Practicing Accountants or Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia or working towards.
  • Extensive experience in management reporting and planning in medium to large sized complex business.
  • Strong technical skills/accounting standards and ability to apply them to Mater Research operations.
  • Experience with Cognos Reporting and Analysis tools or equivalent.
  • Financial Research Grants administration experience would be highly valued.
  • Superior Microsoft Excel skills.
