Manufacturing Accountant

About the role

Working directly with the Site Accountant and General Manager Operations, this role will form part of the accounting function providing financial and management advice across the site.

You will also assist in planning, directing and monitoring the activities related to the company's costs systems as well as providing insightful feedback on financial performance.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the coordination of the sites month end process within the organisations month end timetable and reporting deadlines;
  • Preparation of monthly work order variance reports including commentary explaining variances;
  • Reviewing and approving the monthly inventory cycle counting results, including investigating significant variances;
  • Assisting with costing new products as part of the sites New Product Development (NPD) process;
  • Maintaining and entering new manufacturing items in QAD including item costs, Bill of Materials (BOMs), Routings and item master data; and
  • Providing analysis and insights on improvement and efficiency opportunities across capital and operational expenditure.

About you 

This is a hands on role that requires you to be flexible,  and proactive, always thinking about continuous improvement opportunities. Additionally, you will have:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Financial Accountant position, preferably within a manufacturing or FMCG environment;
  • CPA/CA qualified, or working towards completing;
  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or a related discipline;
  • Flexible with your ability to work under pressure and in a fast paced environment;
  • Proactive and a self starter;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise across all business levels;
  • QAD experience preferred but not essential; and
  • Advanced excel skills preferred.
