Garden and Maintenance Worker

Southern Districts Support is a community care organisation, specialising in providing services designed to meet the needs of seniors, people with disabilities and their carers living in the areas of Armadale, Gosnell's, Canning Vale and Serpentine Jarrahadale. This position is based from our head office in Armadale WA, with travel to our Clients homes to provide an exceptional service.

SDS are seeking individuals to fill permanent part time positions as Garden and Maintenance Workers. You will be available to work in all Perth metropolitan areas and have access to a work vehicle to conduct these services. The position will be offered with a minimum of 20 hours per week.

Prior work experience in this role is not essential but is an advantage.

Suitable applicants will have an ability to work as a team member, be responsible and professional at all times while  building rapport with our clients, be able to work unsupervised, and have good interpersonal and communication skills. A knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety would be an advantage.

Essential criteria:

  • National Police Clearance (must be clear of convictions and less than 6 months old)
  • Current and valid WA driver’s licence
  • Full working rights within Australia
  • Flexible in hours and days of work

Duties include but not limited to;

  • Basic gardening tasks that ensure that environmental health and safety hazards are minimised for our Clients. This may include weeding, pruning and hedge trimming, general gardening and garden tidy-ups.
  • Basic home maintenance tasks. This may include minor repairs, decluttering, window and gutter cleaning.
  • Other duties may be requested from time to time depending on the client care plans.
