The Position

Based in our Darwin Office, the role of the Eligibility Officer is to ensure Gallagher Bassett’s internal and external customer expectations are met by conducting initial contact, conducting a risk assessment of claim severity, coordinate and obtain information from key stakeholders and make initial claim liability decisions.

 

Reporting to the Team Manager other responsibilities include the following:

  • Receive claim lodgments over the phone from Injured Workers or Employers;
  • Verify information regarding the claim within appropriate time frames;
  • Actively listen, show empathy and recognize the needs of the worker and employer;
  • Identify any potential barriers and provide strategies for eligibility outcomes;
  • Request and obtain missing information including information to assist in the calculation of Normal Weekly Earnings (NWE) from the injured worker and employer;
  • Educate stakeholders on the legislative requirements and initial claim decisions;
  • Assess the need to involve the appropriate psychological, medical, rehabilitation and factual investigation immediately and co-ordinate as required;
  • Deliver a high level of service to all stakeholders.

 

The Candidate

To be considered for this role you will need to have previous Claims Management/Workers Compensation experience with knowledge of the relevant Acts and Legislative requirement.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to empathise and build relationships with people at all levels. We are looking for someone with a proven track record of providing a high level of customer service and the ability to work as part of a team.
