Opportunity for an assistant accountant in Logan

Assistant Accountant

Your new company
Hays are currently recruiting for a Not for Profit Organisation located in the Logan. This public sector organisation offers valued support to members of the general public and is responsible for servicing a large geographical area. Due to movement within the team, they are looking for an assistant account with bookkeeping experience to join the well-established finance team on a temporary contract.

Your new role
You'll be responsible for the daily Assistant Accountant duties for the business including all month end and year end processes.
Duties will include:

  • Managing budgets
  • Preparation of financial reports for grant proposals
  • Payroll
  • Accounts Payable
  • Accounts Receivable
  • General ledger including journal preparation and entry, checking of accounts, preparation of financial statements
  • Payroll processes including calculation of superannuation, PAYG, leave etc
  • BAS
  • Fringe Benefits Tax
  • Managing Fixed Asset register
  • Journal entries
  • Invoicing
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Managing insurances and leases
  • Archiving
  • Working closely with the Office Manager you will ensure all paperwork is kept up to date and an efficiently managed.


What you'll need to succeed

  • You'll be a proficient Bookkeeper with strong experience using Sage/SAP
  • You'll be comfortable working within a busy stand-alone role and have a good understanding of accounting duties.
  • You will need knowledge and understanding of not-for-profit sector, relevant legislation and reporting.
  • You'll also have a positive attitude with a strong work ethic and initiative to think outside of the box.
