The role

Due to upcoming extended leave, this Paralegal opportunity is available in our Dandenong branch on a twelve (12) month fixed-term contract. Please note although this role is fixed-term in nature, opportunities for permanency or extension do exist for the right candidate depending on future business needs. 

The responsibilities

  • Assist solicitors with the day-to-day operations of files/client management
  • Be the first point of contact for clients and answer clients’ enquiries
  • Working with mixed file loads predominantly workers compensation but also including motor vehicle and public liability matters
  • Prepare matters for conference and hearing including preparation of court documents, legal documents and general correspondence
  • Drafting briefs, documents such as claim forms and schedule of damages and liaise with Counsel 
  • Correspond, brief and liaise with medical practitioners and other experts
  • Coordinate medico-legal appointments, compulsory conferences and mediations
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships both internally and external to the organisation
  • Manage complex databases of information
  • Devise systems to support information retention and accessibility
  • Administration tasks as required

 The skills

  • Demonstrated experience as a paralegal across personal injury matters 
  • Significant demonstrated experience of pre-court and court processes (e.g. PDF files) 
  • Experience in TAC and public liability matters will make your application competitive
  • Client service oriented, strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail 
  • Strong understanding of pre-court and court processes 
  • Ability to work as part of a team and achieving targets
  • Proactive, self-starter and displays initiative
  • Ability to show great commitment and see matters to conference collectively as a team
  • Comfortable to work under pressure when needed
  • Strong MS Office skills
