Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Steel Mains is Australia's leading manufacturer and supplier of complete steel pipeline systems for the transportation of water and wastewater, offering a total solutions approach to its customers.

Our Plant in Somerton, Victoria is currently looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join the team.

Reporting directly to the Maintenance Lead, the Maintenance Team Leader would be responsible for the coordination of day to day tasks in the Maintenance area. This is a full-time role to help with seamless pipe production and delivery of projects on time.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring compliance of the maintenance team with Preventative Maintenance policies
  • Prioritising and allocating work orders and scheduling using Computerised Maintenance Management System
  • Coordination and scheduling of contractors
  • Responding to breakdowns and fault finding
  • Identify issues and make recommendations for improvements in plant operations
  • Leading a team of maintenance Fitters, including directing and arranging day-to-day purchasing and personnel management responsibilities for that team

 

The successful candidate should have:

  • Good communication and organisation skills
  • 2-5 years' experience in a related role
  • Ability to lead a team
  • Strong problem-solving mind geared towards fault finding and root-cause analysis is desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in a manufacturing environment is advantageous
  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (word, excel) is required, MEX (or other CMMS) experience desirable but not essential
