The Opportunity:

This amazing opportunity will have you working with and learning from a highly experienced General Counsel who believes in-house is ‘where the action is’. He takes pride in mentoring his team members and will take an active interest in your development, offering both a balance of supervision and autonomy to allow you to develop as an in-house legal practitioner.

As Legal Counsel, you will be required to provide broad ranging legal support to all of the Companies and businesses in the Schiavello Group worldwide.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing independent, timely, high quality and pragmatic commercial and solution focused legal advice to Schiavello Group stakeholders;
  • Preparing, reviewing and assisting in the legal aspects of key projects, major client contracts and subcontracts and provide advice regarding contracting, transaction structuring, project/contractual risk management and insurance;
  • Providing commercially focused contract administration advice and legal support for tender submissions to Schiavello Group Business Units, Companies, and Shared Services Teams;
  • Review, negotiate and draft a range of commercial contracts, including high value construction and property contracts
  •  Briefing and management of external counsel.

The Candidate:

You will:

  • Hold a minimum of 2 years strong post admission experience in one or more of the following practice areas:
    • Construction law;
    • General commercial and contract law;
    • Property Law, including Commercial Leasing;
    • Dispute resolution and litigation (Preferred but not essential)
  • The ability to build rapport easily and establish trust with key stakeholders;
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to make commercial decisions within a legal context;
  • Proven experience in  negotiations with relevant stakeholders;
  • Ability to manage multiple work streams simultaneously, producing high quality work within tight deadlines.
