About the Role
We are seeking a competent, committed and outgoing Medico-Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join our small team in the heart of Melbourne's inner-city suburbs. Mainly focused on personal injury assessment, we have a team of specialists completing medical assessments for work related injuries, public liability matters and transport accidents injuries. The successful applicant will work alongside one of the specialists assisting with templating and file preparation as well as any ad hoc requests. The candidate will need to be able to work under pressure and still provide quality service to our clients.
We have the flexibility to offer the role on either a full-time or part-time basis with hours being negotiable. You will have strong written and communication skills, well versed in medical and legal terminology with a proven history of accurate proof reading. You possess advanced level computer and typing skills within an Apple/MAC environment. You are a calm and thorough person with high level of attention to detail. Holding a degree in a relevant field or experience as a Paralegal and in personal injury law is highly desirable but not essential.
Responsibilities and skills
- Transcribing client and practitioner's notes;
- Proof reading;
- Administrative duties as required
- Internal and external liaising;
- Booking and confirming client appointments;
- Understanding of legal and medical terminology;
- Demonstrate compassion and confidentiality;
- Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team; and
- Strong interpersonal skills.
