The company

Marist180 (www.marist180.org.au) is a not-for-profit organisation committed to creating positive change for vulnerable young people and their families. Following a successful application to deliver the Intensive Therapeutic Care contract (replacing Out of Home Care in NSW), Marist180 is now seeking applications from industry professionals including Youth Workers, Case Managers, House Managers, Allied Health Professionals and Therapeutic Specialists.

The position

This position involves the delivery of targeted casework services within a specific practice and therapeutic framework with young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, in accordance with the standards required by the Office of the Children’s Guardian. You will work collaboratively with young people aged 12 to 24 years either residing in one of our Specialist Homelessness Services homes or living in the community to which you will Outreach.

Through collaborative casework and goal planning, you will empower the young person to be actively involved in education, training, employment, and community activities to promote independent living skills. Additionally, once goals are identified you will build and maintain trusting relationships with stakeholders and services to support the young person to develop pathways into stable accommodation, with a large focus on family preservation if possible.

The candidate

We are looking for a practical and resourceful individual with Degree qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling, and minimum 2 years case management experience in the youth homelessness sector. As a minimum:

  • You will have experience in working with vulnerable young people 12-24 who have experienced complex trauma; and their families towards restoration
  • Skills in engaging children/young people with challenging behaviours and complex needs
  • Ability to work autonomously whilst contributing to an effective team environment, as well as high interpersonal skills and the ability to self-reflect; and
  • High level of verbal and written skills, sound time management and computer literacy skills
  • Current and valid First Aid and CPR certification
  • Unrestricted NSW driver's licence
