Counsellor - Gambler's Help

Who we are

At EACH, our vision is for a healthy and inclusive community.

Founded on the vision that everyone is entitled to good health, we’re one of the nation’s leading health and community services providers, offering a broad range of services for over 40 years. Our services include Community Health, Mental Health, NDIS, Counselling, Support for Older Australians and Family Services.

Who we’re looking for

If you're a Counsellor, qualified in either Psychology or Social Work, enjoy variety in your day, and working closely with other service delivery professionals, you might be exactly the person we're looking for!

As part of our Gambler Help Team at Box Hill, EACH is looking for a Counsellor to provide professional counselling and support to people making a huge difference to the lives of those adversely affected by gambling.

You will have demonstrated competence in an area of clinical practice, preferably in a multidisciplinary team context and with clients with multiple or complex needs and an understanding of the Social Determinants of Health and the Social Model of Health approach and health promotion.

You will have previous experience in the not-for-profit sector or an appreciation and understanding of community organisations and their operation and a good understanding of the referral pathways across sector(s).

What you’ll be doing

You will be providing intake assessment and information to clients contacting the service. You will meet with clients at our office to deliver counselling casework and advocacy using an integrative service model to support clients, as well as drawing on your skills to implement a plan of management. You will be required to meet targets set by our funding body and supervision will be provided with peers and an appropriately qualified internal supervisor.

Who you’ll be working with

Our Gambler’s Help Eastern service offers support, advice, and information to people affected by gambling (both gamblers and non-gamblers) and to the broader community. We provide a range of professional services across the Eastern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne.

What we offer

EACH offers all staff benefits by offering Not for Profit Salary Packaging, a family-friendly workplace strategy and support through a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program.

Next steps

We want to know why you would like to come work with EACH and what you can bring to this role. Please attach a cover letter with your resume and apply online via our Careers Centre. If you’d like more information about the position, please contact Archana Kaur, Team Leader - EACH Therapy Hub via email at or on (03) 8892 4220.

Applications close on 6 October 2019.

We recognise the benefits that diversity and inclusions brings, and in turn encourage people from all backgrounds, abilities and identities to apply to our vacancies!
