Relief Branch Customer Service Officer

bcu is a multi award winning credit union - and we are seeking an enthusiastic, friendly professional,  passionate about providing exceptional Customer Service to our members and building trusted relationships.

This is a Full time role based at our South Brisbane Store, working Monday to Friday. As a Relief Store Ambassador, you will occasionally travel to assist our teams at our South Brisbane, Maroochydore and Tweed Heads Stores.

A little about us ...

Originally created in the early 1970’s, bcu was formed by a small group of business owners—predominately banana farmers on the NSW North Coast—to provide a local, realistic banking alternative to the big banks.

bcu has been the recipient of many prestigious awards in the last few years, highlighting our dedication to keeping our products relevant, our fees fair, and offering our Members the little extras that many of our competitors don’t. We are extremely proud to remain committed to the original purpose of the founders of bcu and provide a genuine banking alternative.

Some key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting members with enquiries over the phone through our call centre platform
  • Accurately process customer cash transactions (teller duties) and satisfy customer enquiries
  • Developing suitable solutions to meet customer's banking needs.
  • Responsibility for individual targets and objectives, including but not limited to, new memberships, deposits, general and risk insurance, personal/consumer lending (including personal loans, credit cards, home loans), and wealth.
  • Ensuring customer accounts, products and services are set up accurately and in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Developing relationships with key stakeholders, internally and externally.
  • Using your knowledge of bcu products and services to proactively cross sell, and identify and refer sales opportunities to specialists (within bcu or external partners).
  • Travelling between bcu Stores to cover scheduled and unplanned leave, sometimes having to stay overnight at different locations.

To be successful for this role, you will need to be able to demonstrate:

  • Good communication and people skills to facilitate relationship building with key stakeholders.
  • Experience in a call centre/customer service environment
  • Ability to effectively discuss banking arrangements to meet the short and long term needs of customers and bcu.
  • Demonstrated capability to successfully achieve sales, service and referral targets.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound business decisions under pressure and time constraints.
  • Prior experience/qualifications in the banking/finance industry will be highly considered
  • A current Drivers Licence
  • Willingness to travel throughout the bcu network, sometimes at short notice

Tier 2 (RG146) qualification, or willingness to gain this qualification, is highly desirable.
